I LOVE my camera. I was sitting on my friend's porch yesterday at the beach and it was able to capture this shot about 100 yds away. Good thing because by the time I could physically get to the beach she was fighting with her brothers and crying. Magic moment gone. My camera is a canon power shot SX30 IS.

High five everybody! I painted a commission piece with no stomach or head ache. And no curse words! This is the fifth painting I have done for this family. I met the Sams at the Fairhope art show last Spring. I have painted each of their three children individually on the beach. This is a gift for my friend/patron's daughter. The toddler in the painting. (oh, she's not a toddler anymore) Somebodys going to be happy.

My pooch is at away at camp in North Carolina with my parents. He spends alot of time with my parents through out the year. My parents have never had an indoor dog and they think Tucker is the best dog ever. He might be. My Dad stumbled and fell a couple of days ago(don't try to take your pants and shirt off at the same time). Tucker tried to make him feel better by taking him a toy before he got back up. Aren't dogs the best? No cat would bring you a toy if you fell. Tell me if I am wrong.
I think when my friends named their bulldog Rascal they pretty much predestined his future. I am not sure how much money he ate up in furniture and drapes. The memory that stands out in my mind took place during a dinner party when he came in full view of the dining table and did his solid business on the persian rug in the adjoining room. My dear friend Sherry still wanted a portrait of him. As with SO many bulldogs, Rascal was a desendant of the Georgia bulldog mascot. That dog got lucky a lot. I am not sure how he had time to attend ball games.
I love this lady. I was able to get several shots of her because she held this pose for a few minutes. She was looking out over Dorchester Bay in south Boston. Not sure why I am drawn to certain body positions. There is something about hands on hips that interests me. I have talked before about how I like squatting kids. Well...I like beach goers with hands on hips. Maybe it makes us look more thoughtful.?
This is the first of a series of Dorchester Bay beauties. Lugging my camera around for twenty mile walking days in Boston paid off the last day. We had lunch the final day in a park across from Dorchester bay. I was absolutely giddy to find lots of ladies enjoying the beach. This one is painted on a 10 x 10" gallery wrap canvas.
Just returned from Boston and the 3 day walk for the cure. Our team raised over $23,000.00 for breast cancer research. It has been a great experience but am glad to be home. Our first day of walking was the hottest day in 85 years in Boston. Second hottest day on record. 102 degrees. It rained on us some the next two days we walked. Loved spending so much time with long time friends walking and raising money for such a worthy cause. Boston was beautiful and the people could not have been nicer. I got some great photos. Hope to get back to painting soon. Miss it!

I squeezed out a bit of time between trips to paint. Maybe after this upcoming trip I will get back in the swing of things. I just returned from a week long work trip in Tennessee with the youth in my church. We work through Appalachian Service Project to help make folks homes warmer, safer and drier. I took the reference photo for this during last year's trip.
Finally! I painted something I like. Not having a lot of luck in the painting department lately. Think it is a time issue. I really admire folks who have full time jobs and still manage to paint. Feel kind of like I have a part time job training for my upcoming Susan G Komen walk in July. I have not calculated the number of hours I have been walking each week but it is a lot. 
This is a commission piece for a freind. Libby is the first cousin of the two sets of twins I painted. I loved her graceful pose. She is a dark haired beauty who has just completed her freshman year of college. I guess she was around nine in the photo.
I am having a severe case of painters block combined with no down time. I worked on an 8 x 10" painting yesterday and today for about five hours for naught!
I started this set up knowing I wanted to paint the green apple. Just started picking things off the shelf after that. I think it is hard to come up with creative still life scenes but I don't really tire of it. Endless possibilities and easy acess to paint from life. Sorry for the glare on this photo. I picked these two green vases up last week and was glad I found some time to paint today. I have been out of town so much and it felt good to be in my studio again. So thankful for opportunities I have had but I miss my home. This is painted on an 8 x 10" panel.
This is my dog Tucker. I snapped this shot yesterday while I was sitting on the porch in the late afternoon. Trying to decide how I can briefly explain the title. I am in Fairhope, AL while my husband works a short commute away. My husband has leased a condo for three months while he is working in this area. This is Tucker and my first trip down here. I guess he is getting more nervous in his older age and he has been under foot this last few days. Shivering and following me around every where I go. He was sitting on the coffee table next to the couch I was on. That was not brief. Maybe I should have titled it "Tucker". This is painted on a 6 x 8" linen panel.
This is my entry for the Daily paintwork challenge. It about made me get the flu. So hard! I almost quit the painting several times but pushed on through. Glad I did and am ready for a vacation.
This is the first tomato off of our tomato plant. It is the size of a cherry tomato. I think the plant is a "better boy" variety so I am not sure why it is so tiny. I only had time to do a small painting today so I thought this would be a good subject.
This is a commission piece for friends who have a new beach home. I took the reference photo at Amelia Island , Florida. This is what the water looked like a couple of weeks ago when I was at the beach. Carribean blue and I did not even go out to the water once. I am having a hard time squeezing in all I want and need to do. I am heavily into the training for the Susan G Komen walk. Walking up to forty miles a week now. In Alabama heat and humidity. Boston should feel very good in comparision. There will probably be some kind of record breaking heat wave that week. Oh well, walking for a great cause.
Spotted this girl making strides at the beach and snapped her picture. I was disappointed because I did not get her whole body in the frame. Then...realized it made an interesting composition as a painting. Painted on an 8 x 10" gallery canvas.
I went to church this morning but I think I need to go again. I said so many foul words while I was trying to get a likeness of these girls that my dog left the room. It is finally in the ball park and is going to have to do. These cuties are the twin daughters of my friend Kathy. I painted her other set of twins a few months ago. You heard that right. No fertility drugs either. This set is in their middle twenties now. Their posture in this painting is a little representative of their personalities. Beth, on the right, has a little attitude and swagger and Katie, on the left, is always on stage. I mean that in the nicest way. Great personalities and girls.
First time to paint in over two weeks so I went to one of my favorite subjects. Took the photo of "spot" on my way home from Nashville a few weeks ago. I think he is a holstein cow. I liked his crooked ear. This is painted on a 4 x 12" canvas.
