This is a commission piece for a freind. Libby is the first cousin of the two sets of twins I painted. I loved her graceful pose. She is a dark haired beauty who has just completed her freshman year of college. I guess she was around nine in the photo.
This is paited on an 8 x 10" linen canvas. One more Stirling grandchild to go.
I love your beach scenes you capture the action or sometimes the inaction of the people and the feel of the place. Do you spend a lot of time at a particular beach?
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty! Would love to see all these grandchildren paintings together.
ReplyDeleteThis is another wonderful scene in the series...I agree with Ann, it would be great to see them all together!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! I will try and show the series together.
ReplyDeleteDouglas, we have beautiful beaches in Alabama and north Florida. Only a few hours drive away. One reason I love my state. Four hours from the beach or beautiful mountains.
Beautiful painting, Carol! What a treasure for the grandparents! I love her pose, and your rich colors make it look like the perfect day!
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
What a delightful piece...wold love to see them all together! have a great holiday weekend Carol
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful scene and so beautifully painted!
ReplyDeleteI knew she was a beauty just by your painting, Carol. This is just stunning!
ReplyDeleteLook at you go Carol! What a busy schedule and yet still crank out beauties as this.
ReplyDeleteYour beach scenes are perfect for the 4th weekend. Since I have to work will gaze at these to feel as if I'm out there enjoying the sun.
Love her arms- wonderful highlights and definition. Your beach scenes are always so gorgeous with the colors and waves. Yay to see the whole series together!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! Love your treatment of the water and the strategic placement of light on the figure. Really lovely!
ReplyDeleteI think you are doing okay for painters block! It's the time of year, too much happening. I have to paint groups of paintings fast, and stock them up, and find time to post. Not a great way to progress! I long to have long days with nothing to do but paint, I won't remember how when I get back to it! Reading your post made me want to vent a little, at least I am finding time to look and see what everyone is doing, even if I don't leave messages. Yours are always inspiring and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteThis is really nice, Carol. I bet the recipient will be thrilled to death with it. I think it's hard not to make "portraits" too sentimental, but you pulled it off magnificently.
ReplyDeleteVery nice...I really like the way you did the waves.
