position one

I think we should call this "position one" for beach goers.  "Position two"could be both hands on hips.  This is painted on a 10 x 20 x 1 1/2" canvas.  I thought it would be fun to revisit some of my Boson ladies.

summertime

I am preparing to do one last show before  the summer season.  This will be the fourth year that I have participated in "art on the lake" benefitting Children's Harbor. The artists are set up close to the shores of Lake Martin at Children's Harbor and 20% of our proceeds goes to benefit the programs.  They have a wonderful camp facility that helps families that have children with serious illnesses. The show is Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
They chose my artwork for the t shirts this year.  The same artist, Lila Graves, has been doing the artwork for years and needed a break so they opened it up to artists.  The shirts have been a huge seller for them because of Lila's creative and whimsical work. They remembered a painting I had done before and asked me if I could translate it into a t shirt design.  This was my brother in law when he was a young pup.  I had to repaint and simplify the original painting.sold

hey cow

I went to the beach for a few days last week and purposely went out of my way on the way there in search of cows.  I passed a lot of my go to pastures and the cows were not out. I finally decided to head back to the interstate and give up my quest.  A couple of miles before the interstate, I was rewarded with a lovely crop of cows and nice light.  (and...most importantly, a safe place to pull off the road) This is painted on a 20 x 20" linen canvas.sold

big sister

I met this cute child at a recent art show along with her twin baby sisters.  Her Dad contacted me after the show and surprised his wife with this painting for Mother's day.  Any mom caring for three babies deserves a special gift.  This is painted on an 8 x 10" linen canvas.sold

Lauren's cows

A few weeks ago I got an email from a girl who found my work on Daily Paintworks.  She was inquiring about some of my cow paintings.  She noticed where I was from and asked if I knew a particular family because her husband had gone to school with one of the sons.  Turns out that I knew the family and my son Clint had gone to SMU with her husband.  This is just one instance where I have discovered what a small world we live in.
Lauren commissioned me to paint  these all in a 24 x 24" size.

Happy Mom's day!

roxy

Roxy was the cherished pet of a family from Nashville.  It makes me sad alot of times when I paint these cute faces and know how much they will be missed.  I guess it is similar to when we lose human loved ones and you just have to focus on remembering the good times.  I really do feel blessed to have the job I have. It is so nice to bring others pleasure or happiness with paintings.
Roxy is painted on a 9 x 12" linen panel.

glisten II

I have been busy since my shows catching up on commission work.  I am not able to post some because they are surprize gifts.  This painting is for a friend I have never met who lives in North Carolina. Denise has a beach house that could one day become a museum that features my work if I become famous or more likely commit a crime that makes the national news.  She has ALOT of my paintings and this is the first of four new paintings I am doing for her.  She has several boy paintings and is trying to make her daughter feel a little better by commissioning me to paint some girl paintings.
I have painted "glisten" before. This one is painted on a 12 x 16" gallery wrap and is a bit different from the original. Although I always work from my own photos, I can not guarantee the same outcome when I paint  it again.  It is usually pretty close.sold
