opposites attract

I guess you could say I have been painting my butt off.  I am participating in the Chastain Park Arts Festival in Atlanta next Saturday and Sunday.  I happily came home from my Memphis show needing to paint lots of new work.  My last few have all been big pieces for me.  I will take a picture of my tent next weekend because they make a nice series.  This one is painted on a 30 x 30 x 2" canvas.sold

bittersweet

sold
One of my favorite things about the Fall are bittersweet berries. I usually visit western North Carolina during this time and am always on the lookout for a vine so that I can take some cuttings home. I actually ordered some seeds recently and am going to try and grow some vines.  I had to learn all about scarifying and stratifying. It is fun to learn something new. I feel very Martha Stewartish with seeds in my refrigerator.

I just returned from an art show in Memphis.  It was a great show even though the weather was not the best.  A lot of folks came out in their rain gear on Sunday.   I made some new friends and several of my paintings found new homes.  My next show is November 7 and 8 at Chastain Park in Atlanta.
"bittersweet" is painted on a 30 x 40 x 2" canvas.

poker face

I wish I could take credit for coming up with this title.  I decided to turn to Pandora radio to come up with something that might be appropriate.  The third song that came up was "poker face" by Lady Gaga.  Perfect!  I did not even listen to the song I was so pleased with the outcome.  This baby hereford definitely has a beautiful poker face. She is painted on an 11 x 14 x 2" canvas.
Hope you have fun plans for the weekend!sold

michelangelo

I have been listening to the audio book "The Agony and the Ecstasy" for what seems like the last year.  It is written by Irving Stone and is about Michelangelo's life.  I think it is around 24 listening hours.  Normally I would lose interest but it has continued to fascinate and inspire me.  I have three more hours to go so I have been listening to it today while painting. This piece is a 6 x 6 x 2".
My next show is the River Arts Fest in Memphis, Tennessee. The show takes place Oct 23-25.  Go to the link to find out more.sold

fragile

This painting was driven by having a lot of 8 x 8 " frames that need to have paintings inserted into them.  The title was inspired by Sting's "fragile".  Pretty perfect for the tea cups and orchids.
I have been working on some large paintings so I have not posted a lot.  I am working on another 4 x 4' painting of three cows. Big paintings are a challenge for me but rewarding. My next show is Oct 23-25 and is Riverfest in Memphis, TN.sold

Have a great weekend!!

more time

I only had a little time to paint today so I did this 5 x 7".  I happened to be listening to a song, "more time" by needtobreathe.  Not sure why they run the words together in their band name?  Maybe because their Dad named them Bear And Bryant after Alabama football's famous football coach, Paul Bear Bryant.  a little ditty I learned by reading about them on Pandora.

We had a wet and cold day yesterday for the Bluff Park Art show.  First time it has rained in their 53 year history.  A lot of wet patrons still showed up to support the wet artists.  Very appreciated!!sold
