Painted these two on a 6 x 6 panel. They still looked inviting on my still life table so I decided to paint them again on a different size and type of surface. I feel like my style changes a bit depending on the type of panel or canvas I use. This panel was not as slick because I painted over a scrubbed painting. There was some nice texture there that helped grip the paint.
I am kind of proud of my last two rose paintings. Never felt that successful with them before but I like these.
You amaze me, as soon as I leave a comment you have another painting posted. :) You must have had a great walk, because you painted another winner- beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteVery well done, flowers are hard! Everything is hard.... :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Carol, but I thought the rose painting you did with Qiang a year ago was also just about perfect.
ReplyDeleteCarol, these two rose buds are just delightful...and so well done. The soft pinks is just spot one!
ReplyDeleteNice job with these, Carol. I think Qiang would approve.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that I did not paint the bottom of the stem of the bud on left. Will do. funny.
ReplyDeleteLovely Carol.
ReplyDeleteI like your roses too. The last year or so I've experimented with different paint surfaces and like some of them but the double or triple oil primed linen canvas still is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I love the background treatment too.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous and I love how you've handled the light on the blooms and the background.
ReplyDeleteYou should be proud of these beauties you handled them like you have been painting them forever!!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! I love this one!
ReplyDeletelovely painting,
