morning light

I painted this scene on a 20 x 20" gallery wrap canvas. I primarily used a palette knife in this piece. This is the second time I have painted from this photo. I did it on a 6 x 6" panel several months ago and was happy with the results as was the purchaser from Canada. I told him I would let him know if I ever painted it larger so that he could have first dibs. Now I have lost his contact info. Sorry.
I really painted this for an art competition. There is a town in North Alabama( Moulton) that has an annual chicken and egg festival. They have asked artists to submit work dealing with that subject matter. No problem for me because that is one of my favorite things to paint.
I loved the light in the reference photo. It was early morning at my sister's home and the rooster was perched in front of a corn field.sold

  2. I always enjoy your paintings. It appears that you are as confident with the palate knife as with your brush. I particularly like the movement that you have captured in this one.

  4. Wonderful color and looseness, Carol. Love the way the feathers are suggested without detail. Hope your purchaser sees this and grabs it!

  6. This is fabulous, Carol. Love the black ground. It works so well with the rough knife work. (And start a computer file of buyer addresses in a place you know where to find it! It will be worth it for you.)
