old friends

I took the reference picture for this painting in Siena, Italy. I have the feeling that these two guys gather on this corner every day. Wish I could have heard some of their stories. Love their body posture. I painted this on an 8 x 10" linen canvas.sold

  1. Love the relaxed familiarity you got here between this two old friends. Wonderful light along the side of the front man's pants and shirt! Love the hair and the shoes too.

  3. Your figures are great, the subject heartwarming. But the stone!!! OMG the stone!!! Look at that texture! How do you do that! It just screams stone!!!

  5. A beautiful and evocative piece, Carol! I love these types of paintings and I too would love to hear these guys' stories! I'll bet that have many that would make you laugh, make you cry, and make you do both at the same time!

  6. Wonderful painting! Everything is soft, subtle colors. All those muted colors make the reds in the skin tones really outstanding, but they are muted too! And the light on his shirt is perfect. Really well done, Carol!
