This was a good break from doing figurative pieces this week. This is my submission for the color challenge from Daily Paintworks. I chose to work with a complimentary palette. This is painted on a 5 x 7" linen canvas.
Wow! you can paint everything from cows to pears to purple onions...I think these are fun because your squiggleys at the top are just so good! And you have that translucent thing down pretty good too! Wonderful colors.
What a great painting, really love the colors and the strong light and shadows, nicely done. I've been meaning to give this challenge a try as it looks like fun.
Carol, these onions are really well painted. You can almost feel the "papery" skins and the dried root thingies on the top. Very clever also to use the yellow cup to hold the purple-skinned onions!
