Made a little time for painting today. This is a beautiful dog that I photographed at the Fairhope art show. Lots of dogs there. We saw so many dogs in strollers. I won't say any more about that. hmmm....
I painted this on a 12 x 12" gallery wrap canvas.
I am setting up this afternoon for the Mountain Brook Art Association show. There are around eighty artists participating. It is held on the Crestline Elementary school field and the hours are 10-5. Come see me if you get a chance.

Love how loose you painted him and still captured his sweet face so well!
ReplyDeleteLove this big pooch and all the colors you found in his white coat! Wish I could just "drop by" your tent...good luck!
ReplyDeleteLove Big Boy! Really like that sweet face. Great job on the planked walkway he is on!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a big weekend. Wish I lived closer- would love to see you and your tent- I could even bring my own kettle korn! Take care and good wishes for an awesome show!
Beautiful ! I LOVE the wall behind and the planked walkway. Did you use a knife for the wall ?
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. Pragya, I used a palette knife on most of the background area.
ReplyDeleteLove your colors, Carol! Good luck with your show! Wish I could see it in person. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat composition and color makes it a fun painting of a fun looking dog. Looks like you painted this and "Ta-Da!" on a black gessoed panel??? Is that right?
ReplyDeleteI love him and his sweet face and expression! And the black ground is just wonderful too. I love painting on black and need to do it more!
ReplyDeleteOh I do love dogs! Love your color choices and that black underpainting is a delight!
ReplyDeleteWish I could see your show! This is not only an adorable subject, but a beautifully executed painting! LOVE the off center composition!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Great composition, love big boy off centered, angled line in background, and the lovely light and shadow, very well done. Good luck with your show, really wish I could see it...if closer, I know Ann and I would be there for sure.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I really like "...dogs in stroller, won't say any more about that...", HA!
Love the loose brushwork and the white in the light.
ReplyDeleteVery cool colors. different than the usual.I like the brushwork, too!
ReplyDeleteIt's all been said and I wholeheartedly agree!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your style!
I love seeing how you apply your technique to different subjects, but I think I've 'said' that before - anyhow, this painting is very good, I wonder if he's a Polish Sheep Dog, maybe?
ReplyDeleteDitto ditto ditto to all of the above...I just love it!
ReplyDeleteEVERYthing about this painting is spot on. Kudos Carol.
ReplyDeleteLove the background here. It sets this little pooch off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this painting. It's a wonderful dog painting but it's much more than that. It has such strong and pleasing abstract qualities. Have you thought of painting this one really big? Maybe a 36x36? Great job on the board walkway too!
ReplyDeletelove everything about this. The paint application is wonderful and the color harmony rocks. Made a 'photo' into a 'painting'
ReplyDeleteFantastic painting. Love the palette and also how the darker surface of the canvas shows through.
ReplyDeleteI just saw your art on another blog and had to check it out. Lovely brushwork, and really like the colours here.
ReplyDeleteThis is a favorite, but I think that about each one. I love sheep dogs and I have always wanted one. I hope you still have this one when you come to Nashville- want to see it in person. Love the large cow above also!
