The final sibling in the Sam's family. I really struggle with faces. I know it should not be harder but it is to me. This is a fairly close resemblance.
This and the others are painted on 8 x 10" panels. "Ta da" and "curls" are the other two siblings.
This one is as wonderful as the others Carol and I am sure they are going to be so happy with them! I love the faces especially and although you struggle, it does not show in the final piece! Just beautiful brushwork!
ReplyDeleteLast's little face is beautiful. Carol, you did a wonderful job on that sweet thoughtful face. What a wonderful trio! Maybe you can ask her to send a photo of all three on the wall together. I know it will be amazing! Stellar brushwork friend:)
ReplyDeleteIt is just adorable.
ReplyDeleteLikeness is always what we strive for but the personality of these portraits is what really makes them sing. Just like real life appearances (or in the artists case likeness) can be decieving. Nice work
ReplyDeleteI always really enjoy browsing through your blog, you are such a talent Carol. From cows to children and everything in between just great. Your pieces are always so full of character and charm.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on the face, Carol! It is very toddler-like. I agree with you that faces are difficult to do well. This is a sweet scene and you captured it well.
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty of a piece! I love when you do little kid figures; they are always so perfectly rendered, Carol. What a grouping these three will make for the Sam family. A gorgeous trio these are!
ReplyDeleteI think the face is wonderful. I love the intensity that shows while shoveling sand! So like a child!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Sometimes when a face is giving me a challenge I turn the painting upside down and I see it more like an abstraction and it helps the outcome.
ReplyDeleteJust Fabulous....Carol, really wonderful. Can't attest to the likeness, but it sure looks right to me...so well done!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I think it looks outstanding!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful! reminds me of my niece when she was a baby, with all those curls.
