Radishes and Apples

Have not had a lot of time to paint in the last few days. Painted this on an 11 x 14" gallery wrap canvas a few days ago. The colors in the radishes were so nice that I decided to highlight them in a vase.
I have a curiosity that I am sure others have experienced. I am trying to learn to not always trust my instincts when it comes to the success of a painting. There have been at least two occasions when I was in an art show and I debated about including a painting or not. On both occasions, I took the paintings and they were one of the first paintings to sell. On the reverse side of that, paintings that I felt so good about did not sell. Can't believe not everyone has my same taste! The moral of this story is.... some people like crappy paintings? Kidding.

  1. Splendid composition, Carol! I love the radishes up high and the red/ green contrasts!I have given up on predicting sales! I have a whole set of about 8 works done in about 2005 that never ever sold!

  3. I love this set-up Carol, and it's beautifully painted, wonderful color harmony!
My very first sold painting ever was the one I thought was the worst of all of them, and a painting that I threw into a show last minute won "Best in Show"...go figure!
