This corgie was waiting to be blessed by an Episcopal priest. It was a Sunday and many churches have blessing of the animals day. Cropped out of the picture are two horses. This was a side street in Charleston. Not sure how the horses got there. The owners were dressed in their riding gear. I think they popped over from England with the Queen's corgie and horses. The corgie looks a little apprehensive to me.
I painted this on an 8 x 16" gallery wrap canvas.
Love this! Great job on the crop but it is your wonderful brushwork and the colors that make it work! I like his shadow and the boots shadow. Also have always loved the blessing of the animals- my Dad used to do that.
ReplyDeleteI love it Carol - I think the composition totally works and you really nailed the color choices. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, love the boots, and I can almost feel the Charleston sunshine.
ReplyDeleteVous, ma chère Carole vous l'avez merveilleusement bien béni ce toutou-là!
ReplyDeleteIl a l'air préoccupé par ce qui arrive...
Bisous
Terrific, Carol!!! I was just in Charleston last week, used to live there! Love the idea of cropping in, I'm going to have to look at my pics a little differently! Great composition!
ReplyDeleteGreat composition. Great colors. Love the highlights of the boots.
ReplyDeleteIt looks a bit like Karin Jurick, but it's still yours and I'm sure most of the viewers can see it.
ReplyDeleteLove the composition and the dog!
ReplyDeletePerfect, love the composition, the dog and the boots tell their own story.
ReplyDeleteWe Episcopalians do love our blessing of the animals! And seeing this corgi is perfect timing as we are "dog sitting" our son's corgi-puddle mix for spring break. Used to get grandchildren, now we get grand dogs! Great composition and painting, Carol.
ReplyDeleteI really like your dog paintings. You capture so much personality. I'm signing up to follow your blog so I can keep seeing your blog.
ReplyDeleteYou sure got this Corgi just right! And I love that the person holding the leash has on riding clothes. So...the horses came with the Corgi handler? And where did that Corgi go when the rider climbed back upon the horse??? LOL I love the crop; makes the Corgi the star of the show!
ReplyDeleteI think that's one of a Corgi's 3 looks: ecstatic, apprehensive and determined! I love this - and know how fun it can be painting corgi's. Good cropping, lush brushstrokes - a winner!
ReplyDeleteNice brushwork and the long rectangular shape is perfect for this composition. Have fun at the show!
