This weeks Daily Paintworks Challenge. The gist of the challenge was to practice not overworking your paintings. It was a good exercise for me to do after being away from painting for the weekend. Got to spend time with my sister and some of my girlfriends. Always fun!
I painted this on a 5 x 7" linen panel.SOLD
Gorgeous color combinations and you nail that translucent quality of the onion skin! Really like the blue and yellow soft with the stronger onion values. Love the greenery:)
ReplyDeleteI knew that you would knock this out of the park, it's stunning!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!! I hope to tackle this challenge this week. Glad you had a nice weekend away from the easel. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your wonderful warm palette; gorgeous painting!
ReplyDeleteHa! I have to laugh because this looks like some of my onions. Seems like they sprouts so fast! Well...your sprouts look marvelous. Such wonderful brushwork Carol!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteYou're the queen of the onions! I love the way you handle them. Look for some of my onion paintings on the upcoming posts (inspired by you). I had fun doing them, but I have a ways to go before I reach your level of expertise. Very nice job!
ReplyDeleteGreat example of the exercise. Lovely color and of course brushwork.
ReplyDeleteLove the direction of your brush strokes, Carol. This is perfect and has a wonderful title!
ReplyDeleteI love this, Carol. I had to enlarge it to admire your brushstrokes. Awesome! You met Carol's challenge really well. I also really like your color choices. You used the red-violets of the onion in the shadow. Just Great!
ReplyDeleteAh...beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS! Love the colors. Favorite moments: that great squiggly brushstroke on the onion and the orange rim of the yellow plate.
ReplyDeleteWow, I agree with the above comments! I love this painting too! I chose your Blooming Onion as my favorite daily painting on my blog, rosaspicks.wordpress.com. I hope you'll come by and check it out!
ReplyDeleteVery nice one! you definitely accomplished your goal, not overworked. I like the turquoise plate too!
ReplyDeleteGreat painting for the challenge, clean brushwork & love the colors.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on the onions Carol!! I just tried some today and they were a lot harder than I thought. Love your amazing reds!
ReplyDeletePerfect.
ReplyDeleteOKay, you make me want to paint an onion - this is gorgeous, one of the things I love the most are the variations of the sizes of brushstrokes.
ReplyDeleteVery, very Nice!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful, from the strokes to the palette! I love it! You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late to the party, but have to comment anyway on the that awesome texture and your decisive brushstrokes. I'd like to steal your talent for a day!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm always late, but everytime I have gone into Fresh Paint my eye is taken with this beauty. Love it!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love it! I'm happy that I've added this charming little painting to my collection. Keep up the great work!
