More fun with the forelle pears and pansies.  This is painted on an 8 x 10" linen panel.
I have painted so much lately that my hands hurt.  I squeeze paint out of my brush with a paper towel held in my left hand and that joint is worn out. A habit that I am going to have to find a substitute for if I want to keep painting.
The Mt Brook Holiday show starts today so come on out if you can. Details in earlier posts.

  2. A jewel! Love the loose stroke of light on the left pansy and all the rich colors against your grays.

  4. Another beautiful painting, Carol. I have the same problem with my left hand/arm. Don't know of a good alternative yet. Let me know if you find one!

  5. The pears are perfect, Carol. Wish I had a clue to help with the hand/wrist but I ache all over all of the time and haven't found anything yet.

  6. This painting is really lovely in both color and technique, Carol.

I have two suggestions. I lay out an old, thick rag and swipe my brush across it several times. For a complete color change I swish my brush in my Gamsol in-between. You do have to keep moving the cloth around but it should be better than painful hands. I buy old terry towels from Goodwill. I also find the shop towels from Home depot to be absorbent, but cost more.
A brush for each color is another way.
And another one is to start using a palette knife.

  7. Carol I love the color combo on this painting. It doesn't hurt that purple is my favorite color. Such a nice composition too. I do the a color on each brush idea that Julie mentioned above. I know habits are hard to chance but you just have to keep painting! You are too good.

  9. Really charming, Carol. Love the light/dark in the left pansy with the bright color on the pears in the same area.

Hope your arm/hand is feeling better.......asprin!!
