This is the second time I have painted this cow. The first time was on a 5 x 5" panel. This time I used a 12 x 12" gallery wrap canvas. I took the photo of this cow on my way home from visiting my son in Oklahoma. Keeping all those folks affected by the terrible weather in my prayers.
I am in North Carolina helping my parents move back in their home after they suffered water damage six months ago. So....no painting simce last Saturday. Willl catch up with your blogs when I return. Have a good week.sold

that little bit of purple on the cow's tummy is a nice contrast with the oranges in the lighted areas of his coat:)
ReplyDeleteLove this cow!! Love the blue, green and purple on her belly! I think I painted her sister yesterday. Guernsey cows are my favorite, they are very sweet and we share hair color :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light on this painting, Carol! The sun hitting the cow just glows! Wonderful work!
ReplyDeleteYes, there are oodles of cows in Oklahoma and unfortunately lots of bad weather recently. Praying for all those touched by the tornadoes and flood events of the past few days and weeks.
Great job! I love your brushstrokes)
ReplyDeleteLove these cows Carol, great brushwork!
ReplyDeleteLove squared too:) Your cows are the best...travel safe and take care in NC. Glad your folks are getting settled back home!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I have to say...I dont think I will ever tire of seeing your cows...they are Grand!
ReplyDeleteI picture this as early morning light and it is just beautiful. What a peaceful and bucolic ride this must have been! So glad your parents can move back into their home.
ReplyDeleteLove the composition Carol, so rich in colour. Beautiful sense of light. I also really enjoy the square format, I think it gives a piece a more contemporary feel.
ReplyDeleteI love your animals, especially cows. Your placement and brushwork on this is great!
ReplyDeleteI love the brushstrokes and the way you cropped this really makes for an exciting composition. Nice painting!
ReplyDeleteVery extremely powerful cow! Stately, weighty, cowish!
ReplyDeleteLeave it to you to make a Cow COOL! Great contrast of warm and cool. Love that touch of pale pink next to the pale yellow on the neck. My favorite part is the white area on his back. The graduation from yellow to green to turquoise to periwinkle is fabulous. And of course, great brushwork as usual! You make me want to paint Cows!
ReplyDeleteHope everything is back to normal with your folks.
Nice sun on the cow, he looks very content.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bovine, Carol - love the back lighting and the warmth of this piece.
ReplyDeleteHope your parents are doing well - I think about the southern states and the people who have been so affected by the severe weather.
Best, Cathy
Carol -I just love tis one! The composition is just so interesting, and the bold brush strokes are wonderful. Hope everything is fine with your family who have been affected by floods and tornados. Thank you for all your insightful comments on my work, too!
