riding into the light
The reference for this painting was a photograph I took in Audubon Park in New Orleans. She was a pretty casual rider. Flip flops and tube top. Painted this on an 8 x 10" linen canvas.
So many things to celebrate. My son just graduated from Auburn University yesterday! So proud of him. Starting a job in China in January. Great guy with a bright future.
I am also joining a great group of painters on FreshPaintDailyPainters. Have admired the work of many of these artists for a while. Looking forward to learning more about the others. Check out the site. I am so new to it that I have quite a bit to learn. Just glad to be back to painting after a few days absence.

ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteLove this painting. The light and brush work are fabulous. Did you use a palette knife as well?
This piece just sings with joie de vivre. I love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat painting. Love the composition and the light.
ReplyDeleteI like that very much. Light is so important :-)
ReplyDeleteI really like your figure works, this one reminds me of cycling through the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. You've stirred a memory, I can feel the sun of my shoulders.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Carol! I've just popped to the site and it looks great. I particularly like Helene Levasseur and Ruth Andre's works - you're in with a good bunch there! Congrats to your son as well...I hope you get to visit him lots in China and explore like crazy! It's a great country for art, esp. contemporary...
