water's edge

This is the first of a series of Dorchester Bay beauties. Lugging my camera around for twenty mile walking days in Boston paid off the last day. We had lunch the final day in a park across from Dorchester bay. I was absolutely giddy to find lots of ladies enjoying the beach. This one is painted on a 10 x 10" gallery wrap canvas.
Another highlight of my trip to Boston was getting to visit the Museum of Fine Art and seeing lots of John Singer Sargent's paintings. Words can not express the beauty of his work. Tears maybe.

  8. Terrific painting! You really captured the scene perfectly, the peacefulness of the water, even the Boston accents in their conversation! You were on my old stomping grounds and I saw this scene often . . . I grew up in So. Boston, just down the spit from where you were and went to college at Emmanuel, a skip away from the MFA. Congrats on the success of your walk. Glad you're back in the studio!

  10. Hi! You were so close to where I live! These are great paintings, I know exactly where you were that day and it was HOT - congratulations on your fundraising for the cancer walk - and I admire you and everyone who did it.

  11. Carol, I absolutely love this! The colors are so appealing - the neutrals shown off by the white and black. You have a gift for composition. The way you place your figures - very unique and creative! Thank you for this series...such a treat!

  13. Love the way you simplified the background on this. The figures are great, of course, but my eye went to the great flat abstracted background.
    Awesome!!
