adjustment

This is one of a series of a fisherman I have paintied. This is painted on a 5" x 7" gallery wrap. I like the way the sun was falling on his hat and back. I am pleased I was able to keep the painting as loose as I did. I have to work hard at not over working paintings. That all goes back to me not being patient enough. I need to make sure I have the right color on my brush or the right lines in the painting before I put paint on the canvas.

  1. Hi Carol, the blog looks great, and these last posts are all winners! I soooo understand what you mean about trying to stay loose. That's one of my biggest battles. I wish someone would come up with a formula! By the way, I linked my last post to your website, hope it sends some people your way.

  3. Gosh, Carol! Your work is fabulous! Just looking at the paintings on this page I am blown away. Love the painting of the three little girls - Shell Seekers, and oddly enough, I am intrigued about the stein of beer and the oranges too.

  4. I saw this thumbnail when I was at Dana Cooper's site and had to come see it. Really beautiful with its uncluttered compositon -- truly transportive. The fact that it is Not overworked (love the broad highlight of the hat and shoulder) is one of its main strengths. Would love to see more along this line as I'm always in the mood for the beach :)

  5. Hi Carol,
I'm stepping in from Ann's blog to say hello and let you know I've added myself as a follower, so I'll be back. Your work is beautiful and this painting in particular is wonderful. Ditto everything that's been said already, excellent brushstrokes and color, nice and loose...always, always, always a struggle for me!
