morning break

I did this painting in response to Dana Cooper's challenge on Daily Paintworks. Dana is a very talented artist who is as kind as she is talented. Click on the highlighted words to see Dana's work and the daily painting challenge.
I took this photo in Rome, Italy. I traveled there this Fall and have only painted a few paintings from my photos. I took close to one thousand. I have decided to challenge myself to paint twenty paintings from the trip and I will tell you a little about my experience. This painting looks a little too peaceful to be Rome. I think right after I took this picture a motorcycle hopped the curb and ran over him.
We were only in Rome for two nights and one full day but got to see several of the must sees such as the Vatican (at night!) , the colosseum (during day!) , Trevi fountain, the Spanish steps, ancient Rome, and Michaelangelo's statue of Moses at Saint Peter in Chains church. I have always loved Carivaggio and we got to see some of his work as well. sold

  7. A wonderful painting and sounds like you had a great trip to Italy. We just had a great Caravagio exhibit here. Enjoyed his work and that of the artists he influenced.

  10. Home run! Sometimes a painting just comes together and is fabulous. This is one of those. The darks of the shadows and the chairs are a perfect compliment to the light hitting the figure. Wonderful!

And your story about the motorcycle is too funny!
