Every now and then at an art event you will overhear someone discussing your prices. Saturday I heard a lady say, "that seems like a lot for that little painting". Some folks do not seem to understand all of the time and study that artists have put into their work. A small piece might not take me that long to paint but the time and money I have spent honing my craft took a lot of time. I was guilty of thinking the same thing before I got into this so I am not complaining , just sharing thoughts.
This is painted on a 30 x 30 x 2" canvas.
My next event is The Harding Art Show in Nashville, TN. Click on the highlighted for more show information.
Hi Carol, I have heard similar comments about my items for sale at an art show. My favorite is "oh, I can go home and do that." You just have to smile, don't you. Your paintings are beautiful no matter what the size and well worth whatever the price. Pricing has always been difficult for me because I don't really see myself as an artist, even though I've been painting for over 20 years. I don't feel I am serious enough but I love to try to paint something that speaks to me. I actually have an abundance of ideas but cannot bring them to life. I've read that if you can see the vision you can make it happen but I just freeze or give up. I'm glad you don't give up.ReplyDelete
Yes, Carol, I heard that. "I can paint you that". Funny. Go right on home and do that .ReplyDelete
