timely

I read Robert Genn's "twice weekly" newsletter recently and he addressed artist blocks and helping students out of them.  He suggested giving youself a 37 minute time limit to finish a painting.  Not an easy task but a great exercise to make you focus and make each stroke count.  This was my first exercise. No muddling around. This is painted on an 8 x 8" linen panel.

  2. I read it too. Thanks for the reminder to give it a try. Nice job on an 8x8 in a short time. I think it's a good exercise on a regular basis, block or no block. Kinda like Carol Marine's little 10 minute studies.

  4. I think this is beautiful, Carol. Love the color palette; an overall sense of peace because of that silvery background.

  7. 37 minutes?! I couldn't set up in that much time and I think this still life is awesome. Spontaneous brush strokes are beautiful! :)
