tell you a little story

This is a commissioned piece for an artist friend.  I have the good fortune of having two of her pieces and this is a little pay back.  This is her husband's family barn.  She did not want it too representational.  It is a large 36 x 48" piece.  It has been through several transitions and I have learned a lot and enjoyed painting it.  sold

waiting on the sunset

This is a commissioned piece.  I had several folks at my last show in North Carolina who wanted a larger rendition of a 24 x 24"painting I had at the show.  Even if I am painting from the exact same photo, the painting always comes out differently.  Especially since I am still learning about landscapes and this is a 3 x 4' canvas.

"Don't touch the gate!"

I was in Eclectic, AL a couple of weeks ago and came across a very handsome group of young cows. I found a safe place to park next to the fence and it happened to be close to one of the gates.  I felt bad because they thought it was feeding time and came running to me. I actually got to pet some of them. After about five minutes I noticed a little lady start working her way over to me.  She was cutting grass with scissors.  I thought that was a little kooky.  I explained to her that I was just taking pictures of the cows.  She thought I was kooky.  She was concerned that I would open the gate and told me not to at least ten times as she cut the grass walking back toward her house.  I didn't touch the gate.

This is painted on a 30 x 30 x 2" canvas.

better late than never

This 22 x 28" canvas had a sea scape that was on the boring side.  Add a rooster to anything to up the excitement factor.sold

I am adding a watermark to all my future images.  Too many factions out there who do not care about stealing others work and profiting from it.  I am also using my iphone so the image may not be as good.  Good for me but not as good for you.  Have to do.

It was just my imagination

These colors are pretty close.  I am now photographing my work with my i phone.  My very abused eight year old Canon has bitten the dust.  I just used it to photograph my work.

This piece is painted on an 8 x 16 x 2" canvas.  My next move is to paint some large pieces similar to this.

I second that emotion

I know many of you are going to favor the painting below over the top one. I got to the end of the tube painting and started thinking about what I wanted to say with this painting. Hmmm....what do I like about it?  I liked the colors and decided I wanted to express a feeling more than a literal scene.  Hang with me.  I am stretching and trying to grow.  I do not plan to abandon the style I have worked hard to get.  This is painted on an 18 x 24 x 2" canvas.

Hmmm...you might be saying. I told you I was doing some searching this summer.  I painted this over a piece I had that I liked but felt was too specific or literal. This has really been cathartic for me. This is painted on a 20 x 40 x 2" canvas.  Thanks for looking!
