do it again

I had no idea what to title this painting so I decided that I would name it from within the lyrics of the next song that came up on Pandora.  I have it on the Steely Dan channel and "do it again" was the winner. Could have been worse. This is painted on a 30 x 40 x 2" canvas so I included a second picture to see scale.  I like to compare my painting size to the pumpkin squash vine and rosemary growing below. Sold

I am participating in the Bluff Park Art Show here in Birmingham this coming Saturday.  The hours are 9-5.  The weather is going to be great so come on out and enjoy the day and the art!  Don't forget your wallet.

comfort

This is painted on a 48 x 48 x 2" canvas.  That is a big area to cover and I usually get as much paint on myself as I do on the canvas when I go this big.sold
I am preparing to do the Bluff Park Arts Show here in Birmingham next Saturday.  It is the 52nd year for this wonderful show.  The hours are 9-5 and it is held in the park in front of the Bluff Park Community Center.

sweet olive

sold  This is painted from one of my favorite pictures.  I often stop to take pictures of cows when I am traveling and I am not sure where I was when I took this.  The uncropped photo has the cow lying down and looking up at me.  I have painted this on a smaller canvas a couple of times but decided to go big this time.  "sweet olive" is painted on a 36 x 36 x 2" canvas.
Her name was inspired by the bushes that I have growing outside my studio.  Most folks refer to them as fragrant tea olive bushes but I call them sweet olives.  The bushes are beginning to mature and really blossom.  The smell they emit is one of my all time favorites. A very happy smell.

upper deck

This is the first time I have painted on this 12 x 36 x 2" size.  My friend and neighbor wanted a rooster in this format and size. Roosters are one of my favorite things to paint and this canvas led to some fun composition. I included a second picture so that you could see the scale.sold

bandit and louis

This was such a fun picture to paint.  Louis and Bandit's faces made me laugh while I was painting them.  They look so serious.  I painted this commission in late July and am just now posting it because it was a surprise birthday gift my friends gave their daughter.  It is painted on an 11 x 14 x 2".I enjoyed being in the Monte Sano art show yesterday in Huntsville, AL.  It was fun meeting lots of new folks and selling several paintings.

first mate

I painted Ti this summer but it was a surprise so I had to wait a while to post the painting.  My friend gave it to her husband as a birthday gift. I wonder if Ti or his owner was having more fun?  This was painted on an 11 x 14" linen panel.

Come see me at the Monte Sano Art Festival tomorrow in Huntsville, AL.  9 - 5

Have a great weekend!

darla

I painted this back in the summer for a friend who just gave it to her daughter for her birthday.  I think King Charles Spaniels are one of the most beautiful breeds.  Darla was from a line of show dogs but was ruled out as a show dog because of the marking on her forehead.  One of my favorite things about her!  this is painted on a 12 x 12 x 2" canvas.

I am headed to Huntsville, AL tomorrow to the Monte Sano Art Festival.  It is a one day show and the hours are 9- 5 this Saturday.  Would love to see you if you live in the area.

oh girl

I tossed a coin to choose between two song titles for the title of this painting.  I was listening to the Earth, Wind and Fire Pandora channel as I painted this.  I have taken several dance breaks. The two titles I chose were "you dropped a bomb on me baby" by the Gap band and "oh girl" by the Chi Lites.  "you dropped a bomb on me" started playing ten minutes ago and is still playing and there are only four lines of lyrics.  That is helping solidify my decision.  I liked it for the first two minutes.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday and for the new folks that signed up to receive my blog.  I appreciate you taking the time to view my art work.   I plan to do more give aways on a regular basis.  I do not look at email subscribers very often because it is done through feedburner.  I noticed today that there are 348 subscribers but only 256 are verified.  I guess they send you a return email after you sign up for the blog to verify that you want to receive it.  It may go to folks junk mail sometimes.? If you think you signed up and never get my emails you may need to sign up again and make sure you verify. Wordy!  Sorry!sold

And now...for the winner of the birthday chick..........judydon02
I will give judydon02 a couple of days to respond to my email at carolcarmike@att.net and if I do not hear from them I will draw another name.
Thanks again everyone and I promise to do more give aways.

sweet

Inspired (or saved) by lyrics again.  Dave Matthews Band "sweet".  I have painted this cow mug several times but it is always different depending on my mood.  Feeling kind of loose and colorful today.  This is painted on a 10 x 10 x 2".  Think next time I want to go very big like a 3' x 3'.
Hope you have a good weekend! Sold

garden gems

I am guilty of buying vegetables with the intention of trying new recipes and putting something healthy on our table.  The truth is.... I would much rather paint them.  Fortunately my husband understands that.   This is painted on a 24 x 24 x 2" canvas.sold

bromance

I started this small painting a few months ago and decided to finish it yesterday.  Sometimes I get really tired of painting a particular subject and will abandon mid way.  Even cows. This is painted on a 6 x 6 x 2" canvas.sold

after further consideration

I am happy to have some new cow photos to paint. I visited with some friends at Lake Martin last week and as a bonus got some new pictures of cows.  Lots of fresh faced calves.  White cows with great light are my favorites.  This is painted on an 8 x 8 x 2" canvas.sold
