a wee bit wet

It rained the morning we did a walking tour of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland.  It turned out to be one of my favorite days.  I guess I don't play in the rain much because I have never noticed how beautiful the reflections can be on wet sidewalks.
We had a wonderful guide for our Edinburgh tour and she apologized for saying "wee" so often.  We loved it and her.

a load off

I included two photos so that you could see how large this piece is.  It is painted on a 2' x 4' canvas.  Think I am mostly finished.  May tweak it here and there.
I took the reference photo in St Andrews, Scotland.  Home to the third oldest University in the English speaking world. Also where golf got its start.
I was drawn to the group sitting on a wall taking a lunch break.  When I looked at the photo I decided it would be interesting to crop out their upper bodies.
I still have one spot open in my January workshop.  Please e mail with interest or to hear more about it.  If you know you can not make it in January but have an interest, go ahead and let me know.  I will also create a wait list for this one.

intermission

It is hard to get sheep to take a break from eating to get a photo.  It is easy to get shots of them grazing or of their behinds.  They do not seem to be curious about humans at all. Imagine that?
I have recently returned from a trip to England and Scotland.  Two beautiful countries with so much history. We packed a lot in during the eight days we were there but we were only able to skim the highlights.  I took the photo of these sheep close to Stirling castle in Scotland.
I will share some more about my trip in the coming weeks.
I would like to announce a weekend workshop I am going to have at my studio Jan 18 and 19.  I am limiting it to nine students because of space.  We will focus on still life the first day and painting from one of my photos the second day.  Email me at carolcarmike@att.net for more information.  Hopefully this will be the first of many workshops or classes I will offer.

daisy garden

Have I ever told you that my mother in law's maiden name is Daisy Garden?  Her sister is Rose.  She is as cute and perky as a Daisy too.  This is painted on a 20 x 20 x 1 1/2" canvas.  More of my favorite colors.sold

trio

Sorry for this bad picture. This is 30 x 40 x 1 1/2" and I have a terrible time photographing large works. I have these vases on my dining table and think they make a great trio. I am going to paint them several times with different  flowers.  I plead ignorance when it comes to painting flowers so this will be a good exercise for me.  The colors in this piece are all of my favorites.sold

buff

This cow was kind of a buff color.  I liked that her hair was a little shaggy. This is painted on a 6 x 6 x 1/12" canvas.
Have a great weekend!sold

I love it when cows turn their heads back to see if you are still there.  Think that is my favorite cow pose.  This is painted on an 8 x 10" linen panel.sold

cocky

Happy Labor day.  Hope you are not having to labor today.
I thought I would include my reference photo for this painting. The photo was blurry but if you like what is going on you can still make it work.  He has been my muse for many paintings. He can't help but be cocky.
This is painted on a 6 x 6 x 1 1/2" canvas that I primed black.sold
