pre sun

I edited out the parent who was applying sun screen to this little girl.  I love her "this feels gross" splayed fingers.  I used to have to chase my boys around the room to put their sun screen on.  You would have thought I was applying acid.
This is painted on a 20 x 20" gallery wrap canvas.
I plan to post a couple of pictures of my future studio space next week.  Sheet rocking it this week.  Thinking we will get to move in sometime in January.  Trying to be patient and enjoy the process.
Have a great weekend!sold

daisy blue

I guess I am a glutton for punishment.  I painted the @*^# blue bottle again.  What was I thinking?  I "thought" I was just going to paint a sweet, little set up.  These last two paintings have been a practice in perseverance for me. This is painted on a 5 x 7" linen panel.

I am going to go hide the blue bottles now.

Happy 25th birthday to my beautiful boys today!!sold

figs and sun flowers

This painting is lucky not to be on paper towels in my trash can.  Not an easy day or two at my easel.  I found the two blue greenish bottles and figs this weekend and thought they would be fun to paint.  They were not fun to paint.  This is painted on an 8 x 10" linen panel.

gravity

Yes, that dreaded gravity effects us all after a certain point in our lives.  For those of you that are new to my blog, I took photos a year ago on Dorchester Bay in Boston of several older ladies enjoying the beach. I have had so much painting them.  I am working on a large triptych of three of them.  Each panel is 20 x 60". I will try and photograph them as I get further along.

beach comber

I don't think I have ever painted a bird.  I kept stopping at this image when I was browzing through my photos and decided to go for it.  And large.  24 x 36".  Then I find out after reading Dana Cooper's blog that it was "the bird brain challenge" on Daily Paintworks.  Spooky!
I have to say that I am glad this heron turned out. Until today herons have been a sore subject with me. The ONLY commission I have ever had go bad was a 4 x 5' picture of blue herons.  This lady gave me the colors and convinced me that I could paint blue herons that huge even though I was reluctant. She lived seven hours away but came to my area now and then so she was going to pick it up.  LONG story shorter, after I painted that @#%^ painting I did not hear from her.  So...I enjoyed cutting it up a year later.  Hoping when she sees blue herons in her neighborhood that she thinks of me.  I took the high road.  I guess me telling this story negates that.? Her name is....

geared up

I have painted this boy one other time on a 5 x 5" canvas.  This is painted on a  24 x 24" canvas. He was lots more to fun to paint on a large scale.  I am participating in an art festival in Destin, Fl the last weekend in October so I have lots of ideas swimming around in my head.  Just trying to find enough time to put them on canvas.
Today is my birthday and I am having a wonderful day so far.  Beautiful, sunny day here in Alabama.  Listening to Boz Scaggs radio on Pandora.  Just finished a secret commission for someone that I am very happy with.  All is good!  Have a great weekend.Sold

you get a line and I'll get a pole

This is a commission piece for a good friend.  This is her son and grandson.  I don't know if they caught anything but I bet they had a good time trying.  I am thankful that my husband spent lots of time like this with my three sons. No regrets!
This is painted on an 8 x 10" linen panel.
I have had a busy several days with the art show last weekend and then getting unpacked after that.  It was lots of fun and I met several new folks. One of the biggest honors was to have some previous patrons come back for some new work.  Had a chance to visit with my sister, some cousins and my roadie, Lynn.  Now... back to work!sold

yellow balloon

This is a late revision of this blog post but I was in a hurry last Friday when I posted it and my computer was not cooperating.  Just wanted to share the reference photo for this painting. A good example of not being married to the photo you are working from.

Lacey

This is a commission piece for one of my friends.  This is her son in law and first grand daughter.   This was a birthday gift for his wife.  They have two year old Lacey and less than year old Jack. So proud of this military family and all the sacrifices they make for our country.
This is painted on an 8 x 10" linen panel.

I am headed to Athens, Alabama for an art show this Saturday.  It has been relocated from the town square to Athens State gymnasium because the rain will not go away. The hours are 10-4.  Come see me if you are in the area.sold
