a little pink

As close to painting a Valentine's day picture as I will get. There was a strip of pasture in the background that had a hint of pink and the pond that the cows were standing in had a thick layer of algae on the top.
I just got back from a fun weekend in Nashville. I participated in a show and had a great time making new friends and visiting with old ones. I had several discussions with folks about why so many people are drawn to cows and paintings of them. The general concensus was that they are calming and curious. And.....beautiful! I sold a lot of my bovine pictures so I am very happy to paint more. My herd of paintings went from large to small. I just bought a 4 x 4' canvas today and plan to tackle a new cow head soon.
This is painted on a 6 x 6" gallery wrap canvas.sold

  1. I love your cows because there is something slightly amusing in their expression that makes me smile. They are happy paintings!

  2. I completely understand what you mean about "painting for XXX holiday." Paintings can't really be marketed quite like other things without winding up horrifically tacky most of the time. As much fun as St. Patrick's day is, I can't imagine any kind of decent painting that could come out of a theme like that ;) But I am SURE someone else out there is much more creative than I! In any case, love the cows!

  3. I like your cow paintings because they are whimsical and have such personality. So glad to hear the show was great- yay on selling off some cattle- makes you sound like a Texan:)

  6. I love everything about this. What I notice most is the placement of the cows. Simple and smart.
