blooming onion

This weeks Daily Paintworks Challenge. The gist of the challenge was to practice not overworking your paintings. It was a good exercise for me to do after being away from painting for the weekend. Got to spend time with my sister and some of my girlfriends. Always fun!
I painted this on a 5 x 7" linen panel.SOLD

  1. Gorgeous color combinations and you nail that translucent quality of the onion skin! Really like the blue and yellow soft with the stronger onion values. Love the greenery:)

  6. You're the queen of the onions! I love the way you handle them. Look for some of my onion paintings on the upcoming posts (inspired by you). I had fun doing them, but I have a ways to go before I reach your level of expertise. Very nice job!

  9. I love this, Carol. I had to enlarge it to admire your brushstrokes. Awesome! You met Carol's challenge really well. I also really like your color choices. You used the red-violets of the onion in the shadow. Just Great!

  10. GORGEOUS! Love the colors. Favorite moments: that great squiggly brushstroke on the onion and the orange rim of the yellow plate.
