paint me

I dropped this painting too. No kidding. I have this very elaborate system that I can not believe continues to fail me. I place the painting in an oversized box lid facing away from the sun. I very carefully place it upright on an old rolling office chair and then I mosey back to my camera mounted on a tripod. You would think after numerous paintings have been catapulted to the ground by the wind that I would secure the box lid to the chair and not mosey back to my camera. I will touch up the office chair scrapes and concrete granules tomorrow but for now you can see the damage in all its glory. I don't make these things up.
I photographed this lab in North Carolina this Fall. He was not thrilled by my camera and me. I interrupted his nap when I opened the door to his master's shop. I think I could have stayed there a few more minutes and he would not have lifted his head off his paw. Not much sweeter than a lab. This is painted on a 12 x 12" cradled panel. Fun to do a dog when it is not a commission.
In case you guys that don't live in the South are not familiar with the word mosey , it means to walk slowly enjoyng the sights around you.SOLD

  2. Carol,
First, this is just too sweet. Love that face and you did a wonderful job. Gorgeous brush strokes:)
I have already confirmed that "mosey" is indeed a word for us- And, I believe you about the way you take photos as you taught me....However, I think in the interest of not perpetuating any more myths about the South- we need to get you that Photo Cube. Yes, the one from DISCOUNT TOMMY on ebay and no, he is not my cousin!! Haha...seriously, huge difference- call me and I will fill you in:) Later y'all....

  9. Love this painting! Concrete and all! :-) Yes, mosey is a fine southern word and found in many a southern expression. And the lab is in a good southern, lazy pose. Your colors are amazing in this and painted with beautiful brushstrokes!

  10. Make sure to secure the painting! I know the feeling of having silly mistakes like that happen over and over again - what's the definition of insanity again? Ha. Nevertheless, beautiful job, even with the scrapes and concrete pieces!

  12. Carol, this is truly lovely! Somehow you've captured the nature of this gorgeous Lab, his colors, his soul. No matter that dropping...it is still gorgeous. I see different styles of brush strokes in your pieces, some larger and sweeping and bold, others tighter and allowing for more intimate detail. All of your strokes come together in beautiful pieces!
